problem on distributive property

Topic:-Distributive property

distributivity is a property of binary operations that generalises the distributive law from elementary algebra. For example:
2 × (1 + 3) = (2 × 1) + (2 × 3).
This algebra help shows ,how to solve a equation by using distributive law.

Question:-
Solve for 'r' in

r2+4r+3 = 0

Answer:-

    r2+4r+3 = 0

    r2+3r+r+3=0

We can use Distributive law now

     r(r+3)+1(r+3)=0

      (r+3)(r+1)=0

 So,
      r+3 = 0 or r+1 = 0

Subtract 3 and 1 on both sides

     r+3 = 0 or r+1 = 0
      -3 -3 -1 -1
   ---------- ---------
      r = -3      r = -1

So r= -1 or -3 is the Answer
